The loneliness brought by the pandemic encouraged many to impulsively buy pets without learning proper pet care first. We explore the negligence caused by this movement through visual art.
Especially after lockdown and the pandemic, there has been a drastic increase in the amount of people buying pets without really understanding the responsibility that comes with pet ownership. Pets, as well as plants, are simply regarded as comforting or fun accessories to one’s home, and people frequently forgo the fact that they all have their own needs that must be taken care of for them to be raised comfortably and healthily in a household. PetSmarter aims to inform our current generations of this common mistake, and encourage pet owners to take accountability for it, so that they may understand the true responsibility that comes with taking pets and plants under their care.
