L'ALPHA
In order to combat the lack of opportunity for self expression in my Malayalee community, I contributed to the creation of L'Alpha, an E-journal for St. Alphonsa Syro Malabar Church.
My Church, St. Alphonsa Syro Malabar Church, is composed completely of a Keralite population, immigrated from Kerala, India. I’ve grown up in this community and I’ve come to notice a lack of importance placed on self-expression and emphasizing one’s individuality in the community. As a result, a small group of parishioners and I participated in an effort to introduce platforms for self-expression in our community: L’Alpha, a church E-Journal. As co-founder, I contributed to the process of developing and officially inaugurating the project into our church.
I also incorporated my interests in art to co-found and co-lead the L’Alpha artboard, meant to facilitate self-expression of community members through visual art, as well as uncover and shine light on hidden talents in our church. The e-journal is updated in monthly editions.
